# Delete a tag

`DELETE https://app.clik.so/api/tags/{id}`

> **In short:** Deletes a tag for good and removes it from every link that had it. The links themselves are not changed otherwise.

## You need

* **API key permission:** `write`
* **Workspace role:** editor or higher
* **Plan:** any plan, including Free

## Example

```bash
curl -X DELETE "https://app.clik.so/api/tags/1a2b3c4d-5e6f-4a7b-8c9d-0e1f2a3b4c5d" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $CLIKSO_API_KEY"
```

Response 204 No Content — an empty body means it worked.

## Parameters

| Name | In   | Type   | Required | Description   |
| ---- | ---- | ------ | -------- | ------------- |
| `id` | path | string | yes      | The tag's id. |

## Common errors

| ------ | -------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| 401    | `UNAUTHORIZED` | The API key is missing, malformed or unknown.                                   |
| 403 | `FORBIDDEN` | The key only has Read permission, or its creator is a viewer in this workspace. |
| 404    | `NOT_FOUND`    | No tag with this id exists in the key's workspace.                              |

## Good to know

* This cannot be undone: tags are deleted for good, not archived.
* The `204` response has no body.
