# Tools AI apps can use Every tool the Clikso MCP server offers to AI apps, what each one does, whether it reads or makes changes, and its default permission. > **In short:** > > Clikso gives AI apps 20 tools to read, create, change and delete links, folders and tags. You can set each one to Always allow, Needs approval or Blocked. Reading and creating are allowed at first, while changing and deleting need your approval. ## How tools work Your AI app sees a list of tools, each with a name and a short description. When you ask for something, the app picks a tool and fills in the details. Clikso checks your settings, your role and your plan, then runs it. * **Read and search** tools only look. They never change anything. * **Create** tools add new links, folders and tags. New links count toward your monthly link limit. * **Change** and **Delete** tools edit or remove things that already exist. They need your approval at first. Every tool can also take a workspace. If the app leaves it out, Clikso uses the connection's default workspace. When you have several, the app is told to ask you which one. ## All tools Each description below is the text your AI app reads, so some of it is written for the app. ### Read and search (10) | Tool | What it does | Default | | --------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ------------ | | `get_account` | **Get account.** Returns the signed-in Clikso user, the workspaces this connection can use (the user's role, what this connection may do there as acting_as, and the plan), the default workspace, and the current workspace's clicks this month, usage and plan limits. | Always allow | | `list_links` | **List links.** Lists short links in a workspace, newest first unless sorted otherwise. Filters by search text (title, slug, destination or description), folder, tags or status. Returns at most 50 links per call; use offset to page. | Always allow | | `get_link` | **Get link.** Returns one short link by its id or by its short URL (for example https\://clik.is/summer). | Always allow | | `check_slug` | **Check slug.** Checks whether a slug is free on a domain, so a short link can be created with it. | Always allow | | `list_folders` | **List folders.** Lists the folders in a workspace and how many links each one holds. | Always allow | | `list_tags` | **List tags.** Lists the tags in a workspace, with their colours and how many links use each one. | Always allow | | `list_domains` | **List domains.** Lists the domains a workspace can use for new short links — its verified custom domains and Clikso's free domains — and which one is the default. | Always allow | | `preview_url` | **Preview a web page.** Fetches a public web page's preview: its title, description and image (Open Graph tags). Useful for suggesting a link title. | Always allow | | `get_link_stats` | **Get link clicks.** Returns click statistics for one short link: total clicks, top countries, referrers, devices and browsers, and clicks per day. Covers the workspace plan's data retention window. Uses the workspace's analytics quota. Listed only while Clikso has the click-stats tools turned on for AI apps. | Always allow | | `get_workspace_stats` | **Get workspace clicks.** Returns click statistics across a workspace: total clicks, top links, countries, referrers and devices, and clicks per day. Can be narrowed to domains or slugs. Uses the workspace's analytics quota. Each call uses one of the workspace's daily AI slug generations; use check_slug to test a single slug instead. Its links are kept and become unfiled. | Needs approval | | `delete_tag` | **Delete tag.** Deletes a tag and removes it from every link. | Needs approval | ## The extra tool: run_approved_action When a tool needs your approval, the app also gets `run_approved_action`. It does not do anything new. It only fetches the result of an action you already approved in Clikso. You cannot switch it off on its own, and you never need to. It only appears while at least one tool is set to Needs approval. See [Approvals](https://clik.so/docs/ai/approvals). ### Good to know * `list_links` returns up to 50 links per call. Longer lists come back in pages. * The bulk tools take up to 100 links at once. * `suggest_slugs` uses your workspace's daily AI slug credits. `check_slug` checks one slug for free. * Tools follow the same rules as the [REST API](https://clik.so/docs/api). If the API would refuse a request, the tool does too, with a plain message. * Apps that show the Clikso approval card also get two tools the card uses for its buttons.
